My name is Galina Petrova – I have over 20 years of experience as a teacher and deputy director in the field of vocational education and training. I am a certified career consultant and trainer under the GCDF (Global Career Development Facilitator) international program. For the last 15 years, I have been conducting trainings on various programs and projects – I have trained the pedagogical advisors in the country to acquire the GCDF certificate for career consultants; students – to acquire skills to plan their career development; unemployed and employed persons under programs of the Employment Agency; pedagogical specialists in approved programs of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
My work as a trainer is dynamic and interesting – meetings with students who are planning their future; with young people looking for fulfillment in the labor market; with people who work but want a change; with teachers upgrading their qualifications.
Training as a process requires a good knowledge of the age characteristics of the audience, the needs and goals of the learners. Their previous experience, knowledge and skills are important – and this is the sometimes-difficult process of self-knowledge, of clarifying values, desires and interests and relating them to previous knowledge and the need for new ones; discovering and using the transferable skills that each person has…
And then comes goal setting and the ability to plan – short and long term, to look for internal and external resources… And the belief that you know what you want, how to achieve it and where to look for information. Because you already know what you can do and what you still need…
It was the achieved results at the end of the trainings that gave me the confidence that my work is meaningful – despite the many challenges caused by my encounters with people who have lost their faith and are very critical of everything and everyone.
